Dinokeng Game Reserve

Dinokeng Game Reserve is home to free roaming Big 5, and at less than an hour’s drive, it’s just a hop and a skip away from Joburg and Pretoria. To experience the wild elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard up close, you will need to book a stay at one of the lodges.

The sweeping grasslands are also the stomping grounds for a variety of wildlife, including zebra, giraffe, eland, hyena, small predators and numerous bird species.

Dinokeng lies in the catchment area of the Olifants and Limpopo Rivers, and the name means ‘a place of rivers’. The surrounding area is rich with historical and Ndebele, Batswana, Bapedi and Afrikaners cultural sites: battle sites, forts, memorials and graves abound.
