About Mehrangarh Fort
One of India’s largest forts and the top attraction in Jodhpur, the seemingly indestructible Mehrangarh Fort dominates the city and provides stunning views. Construction started in 1459 but took many centuries to complete and subsequently reflects multiple architecture styles. Enclosed within its thick walls are several palaces renowned for their elaborate carvings and extensive courtyards. The fort’s interesting museum exhibits a selection of old royal palanquins, arms, costumes, paintings and ornate period rooms.
