Hotwater must easily be one of the most exciting musical projects to come out of South Africa recently. South African singer, song-writer, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, facilitator and band leader, Donovan Copley, has a talent not only for creating uplifting and authentic South African music, he has the knack for bringing together a consistently evolving group of musicians from very diverse backgrounds with an ever-fresh musical result that leaves audiences feeling inspired and proud to be South African.
Hot Water's Live performance is a dynamic and often spontaneous tapestry of inspired songs from one of their two album and their upcoming third album. Simply put: the music brings people together - across ages, across cultures, across races, across gender, across borders.
Gerald Clark has been the front man for red-hot bluesband, Delta Blue, since they started performing together in 1999. Up until 2005 they have performed at all the major festivals in South Africa and smaller music venues where they played for sold out crowds. Gerald has since gone solo and has been nominated for various music awards in South Africa. His solo career has taken off and he is booked throughout SA and has also performed in France, England and Namibia. Gerald Clark has also collaborated professionally with well known artists in SA like Albert Frost, Luna Paige, Valiant Swart, VanCokeKartel, Gian Groen, Theo Crous (Springbok Nude Girls) and Koos Kombuis.
His latest blues\rock album has had rave reviews and he has been booked at some of SA's top festivals and Blues related gatherings performing along side the countries best. His vibrant and energetic performance on stage is not to be missed!
The media raves about Gary Thomas:
“Manipulating guitar strings so that they converse in a new language… a psychedelic one-man anti-folk jamming machine” - Cape Argus
“Rupturing the conventional One- Man Guitar/ Vocals Mould” - Mail & Guardian
“Technical Wizardry…the real definition of an artist” - Levi’s Music Mag
“Beautiful, emotive… undeniably a name to watch” – SL Magazine
“He possesses more than mere skill…he is armed with mastery” - Mahala.
Gary Thomas has always been focused as a solo artist and since January 2009 he has completed relentless Nationwide Tours of South Africa, playing to more than 30 different towns in the country, including all the major music festivals.
Drawing inspiration from a wide spectrum of music, he combines the technical and theoretical elements of his teenage Classical and his University Jazz trainings, mixed with something completely original to produce a genre of acoustic music that is unlike anything South Africa has seen before. From percussive finger- tapping, to virtuosic picking and violent strumming, his guitar work has earned praises like “masterful, wizardry, genius” in the press. Vocally, Gary manages to deliver an impressive range where his voice in one instant softly hovers and violently snarls in the next.
River Tones perform roots 'skankin' reggae at it's best and work hard to spread the ancient truth of "One Love" and togetherness.
The Rivertones have performed internationally numerous times. Back home in South Africa their performances range from weddings, to township shebeens to restaurant and music festivals.
In Cape Town, The Rivertones are known for their Tribute Shows to the legend Bob Marley... GeckoFest is your chance to experience the Rivertones performing their own original reggae tunes, live and loud!
