If you wanted to learn to surf back in the day, you’d have to find a board and figure it out for yourself. If you were very lucky, a buddy or a longsuffering boyfriend would give you a few tips before disappearing quickly behind the backline. Then you’d be all alone, battling with the surf break and swallowing lots of seawater. Now there are awesome surf schools all along our coast, and anyone can learn while having fun at the same time. All equipment is usually included in the lesson fees. Learn 2 Surf have schools in Cape Town, Mossel Bay, Plettenberg Bay, Jeffreys Bay, Port Elizabeth, East London, Margate, Durban. So there really are no more excuses to be had!

Learn 2 Surf Margate is run by Ant Brodowicz, one of South Africa’s top coaches and most accomplished professional surfers. It is the only qualified and accredited surf school in the area, and can provide private or group lessons that include all the surfing gear you need. They are affiliated with the Surf Action surf shop – a full blown hardcore surf store that sells all the entire lifestyle including all international surf labels.

Margate surf school is very popular and it’s not unusual for it to be fully booked for weeks during the school holidays – so if you are planning a trip to Margate and would like to learn to surf, please book well in advance.

All equipment is included in the lesson fees and please note that surf lessons are weather / ocean conditions dependant.
