About Shaniwar Wada

Built in 1746, Shaniwar Wada was a royal palace of the Peshwa monarchs of the Maratha Empire until British occupation in 1818. A mysterious fire caused major damage to the fort in 1828 but the surviving structures and ruins are now one of Pune’s major tourist spots.
