Tranquility Guest House is situated just 30 minutes south of Cape Town and nestles between two mountains and two oceans along the False Bay coast. Set high up on a mountainside, it boasts magnificent sea and mountain views, and is within walking distance to the beach. Since its opening, Tranquility has been inundated with people who love a delightful place to be and a place where refreshment and restoration are not hard to find, including warm South African hospitality.

Open the mountain door and, if you are feeling energetic, take a walk in Table Mountain National Park, amidst the indigenous fynbos, to Elsie’s Peak, where the views are unbelievable and False Bay lies before you from Strandfontein to Cape Point; or within a few minutes’ walk to Fish Hoek’s beautiful, long, white, sandy beach, one of the safest and warmest swimming beaches in the Cape; and its equally famous whale-watching promenade, Jaegers Walk, where from July to October, whales loll just 50 metres from the shore in preparation for mating and giving birth and huge schools of dolphins may be nearby. Visitors are sometimes treated to the sight of the local fishermen 'trekking' (the Dutch word for pulling) for haarders and yellowtail fish just off the beach. Smell the salt in the air, feel the sand between your toes and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

If you're hungry, why not try the fish shop across from the BP garage in the village, renowned by Capetonians across the Peninsula for its delicious fish and chips. If it is exercise you are looking for and you have a bike or a good pair of shoes, the road to Kalk Bay or to Simon’s Town is the perfect one to hit. With waves crashing below you on one side and mountains towering above you on the other, your senses become intoxicated with just being alive. Kalk Bay, with its famous fishing Harbour; its own version of Petticoat Lane: junk shop after junk shop filled with bric-a-brac and “antiques” and of course its famous cafés and restaurants – not to mention ‘Olympia Café and Deli’, known for its good food and its fresh pastries - is only around the cove. Historical Simon’s Town, its naval base and museums, its famous dog - St. Just Nuisance – and its boat trip to see the now famous breaching of the Great White Shark; as well as Boulder’s Beach - swimming with the penguins - are a twelve minute car ride away and a twenty minute ride by car will have you at the most south westerly point of Africa at Cape Point, a natural World Heritage Site, where the cold Benguela current on the West coast and the warm Agulhus current on the East coast merge. The guest house is ten minutes by car from the internationally renowned Chapman’s Peak Drive and the oldest wine route in the Cape, the Constantia Vineyards, the first, a perfect vantage point to watch the sun go by and the second, a great outing for a rainy day, where anything from wine to olives can be enjoyed.

The guest house is 45 minutes away from Cape Town International Airport and centrally disposed to all of Cape Town’s tourist attractions, the perfect guest house for one day tours to Cape Town city-centre, the V&A Waterfront, and Table Mountain; Hermanus; the Cape Winelands and the West Coast National Park to see the flowers. Should you be a golfing enthusiast, your wife shall have the privilege of waking up and looking out her window to catch you, in time, teeing off of your first hole – with binoculars, of course – at the famous Clovelly Country Club just across the valley.
