The smallest of South Africa’s National Parks lacks nothing in beauty. As part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, it’s one of the country’s 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and you’ll always see something in flower.

Bontebok National Park plays a significant role in biodiversity conservation. Along with protecting endangered birds and plant species so rare that they are found nowhere else on the planet, it is a haven for its namesake, the bontebok. These colourful antelope have been brought from near extinction to the present world population of around 3000.

Backed by the imposing Langeberg Mountains and with the Breede River running through it, the park offers visitors a picturesque playground. The Breede River is a great spot for bird watching, fishing, swimming and a braai. Hikers can take to the various trails and there is a meandering bike route. Bontebok also offers a unique experience of how the Khoisan lived in this area.
