The calm and shallow waters of Lake Pichola extend as far as 4km, occasionally drying up during severe droughts. Its two main islands are Jagmandir and Jagniwas, the site of the Lake Palace. One-hour boat trips to Jagmandir Island leave from Rameshwar Ghat in the City Palace grounds.
