North West Province

Wolwespruit Nature Reserve is a peaceful and isolated reserve located along the banks of the Vaal River in the North West province.

The reserve is perfect for birdwatching, fishing, hiking, and game viewing. There are many bird species to be spotted, most notably the shrike, thrush and starling. The vegetation consists of typical Kalahari thornveld and riverine bush.

Some of the mammals that roam the reserve include kudu, red hartebeest, black wildebeest, blesbok, and zebra. Hiking is allowed throughout the reserve and fishermen can expect to catch plenty of yellowfish.
