About Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge consists of eight luxury cottages, each built from volcano stone, with two of these being double bedroom family units. The main lodge building has a reception, a dining room, a shop and a bar area, each is heated by an open fireplace to keep it a cosy area on the coolest mountain nights. The views from the lodge stretch across lush botanical gardens, to Rwanda and the Virungas, and on a clear night all the way to the glow of Nyiragongo Valcano in the Congo.
Each cottage has a butler service, day and night. From lighting the fireplace to bring tea and coffee to early risers, consider it done. The sitting areas are furnished with soft sofas and armchairs, and the walls are decorated with special commissioned artwork. Your en-suite bathrooms have twin basins, and walk-in showers with piping hot water to sooth tired bones after a day in the forest. At night you will sleep well under rich cotton sheets and warm duvets.
The cottages' private outside sitting areas are furnished with comfotable chairs and private, unobstructed and unforgettable views of the forest below, and the golden grasses of the western rift valley in the distance. Meals at Clouds are a delight and are prepared using local ingredients of the highest standard. Afternoon tea is served in the lounge and in the evening, meals are taken in front of a roaring fire in the dining area, or in the privacy of your own stone cottage.
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is situated at the trail head, for visiting the Nkuringo family of gorillas. It was built as a partnership between the Uganda Safari Company/Wildplaces and the Africa Wildlife Foundation, through the International Gorilla Conservation Program. The Nkuringo community directly benefit from the lodge; visit Clouds and experience the magic yourself.
Entry fees paid to Uganda Wildlife Authority are required when entering
any of the national parks or wildlife reserves in Uganda.
