The Mara Big Five Camp is located right at the Talek river, just a few minutes away from the Maasai Mara. Eight tents with the well known rustic safari style are at the guests’ disposal. With the unbelievably close proximity to the surrounding wildlife, spotting wild animals by car and foot from the camp is possible.
The double tents have 2 single beds, a writing desk with a lamp, a sitting area, a shelf and a bathroom with a hot shower powered by solar energy, sink, and toilet. In front of the tent, there are chairs and a small tablesit outside to enjoy the sounds of nature. The family tent isequipped withtwo double beds and one bathroom. The furniture corresponds to the double tents. Solar energy and solar water heating are available. Also towels and bed linen.
Specially trained kitchen staff cooks daily fresh and balanced meals from local products Breakfast is served as per clients wish “English” and „Continental“ in a buffet. There is a bar with two types of beers and various wines as well as a selection of spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.In the dining tent, all guests find enough space. Our comfortable sitting area offers you in the evening space for common conversations with other travelers and exchange about the experiences of the day.
Shower water is returned immediately to nature while dishwater and blackwater pass a treatment by a biofilter first. Electricity is generated from solar energy. The garbage is separated and sent to Nairobi for recycling. Organic waste is transported to Talek and composted. Plastic bags are forbidden in Kenya.
Our staff at the camp are friendly and well-trained. The guards and guides are Massai. Our team staff tries to read the wishes out of the guests eyes and they always have a smile on their face.Our driver guides speak perfect English and are among the most experienced drivers in Kenya. Hardly any movement in the thicket escapes the eyes of these professionals. They know how to put the cars in the right light position and understand the wishes of the photographers.
Due to the location in the middle of the protected area, the game drive can be enjoyed from the first warm sun rays to the sunset in the wilderness and offers sufficient time to use the ideal lighting conditions. In the evening and at night the guests will only hear the sounds of nature. The camp is not fenced, therefore we get visitors such as Hippos, hyena and even cats.
